Learning objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

name basic concepts of FEM for nonlinear problems
apply these concepts in the context of nonlinear continuum mechanics
implement the nonlinear FEM
solve problems of nonlinear continuum mechanics, including coupled problems, with the FEM

continuum thermodynamics
discretisation, interpolation and integration in space
elastostatics
thermo-elastodynamics
gradient-enhanced continuum damage

Implementation

Cycle: Winter semester

The module basically consists of a weekly lecture and a weekly exercise. The exercise will take place as a programming exercise in the CIP pool.

Form of examination

The examination consists of a student project with presentation and oral examination.
